چکیده

Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a gram-negative marine bacterium which is a natural inhabitant of marine and estuarine environments around the world. It has been perceived as a major cause of food-borne illness characterized by acute gastroenteritis, mainly due to consumption of raw or undercooked contaminated seafood [1,2]. Furthermore, V. parahaemolyticus infection is a growing public health concern because of the emergence of pandemic strains that have caused severe outbreaks worldwide [3].

Detection of Virulence Genes Tcpa and Ctxb in Isolates from Surface Water and Salt Water Samples in Golestan, Iran

ABSTRACT          Background and Objective: Vibrio is a genus of bacteria that are widely distributed in aquatic environments. The genus includes several important pathogens that endanger farm animals and humans who ingest seafood or water contaminated with the bacteria. Virulence of Vibrio spp. is regulated by ctxAB and tcpA genes. The aim of this study...

Draft Genome Sequence of Non-Vibrio parahaemolyticus Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease Strain KC13.17.5, Isolated from Diseased Shrimp in Vietnam

A strain of Vibrio (KC13.17.5) causing acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) in shrimp in northern Vietnam was isolated. Normally, AHPND is caused by Vibrio parahaemolyticus, but the genomic sequence of the strain indicated that it belonged to Vibrio harveyi. The sequence data included plasmid-like sequences and putative virulence genes.

Real-time reverse transcription-PCR for transcriptional expression analysis of virulence and housekeeping genes in viable but nonculturable Vibrio parahaemolyticus after recovery of culturability.

A real-time reverse transcription-PCR method was developed to determine whether the recovery of culturability of viable but nonculturable (VBNC) Vibrio parahaemolyticus induced the expression of virulence genes coding for the thermostable direct hemolysin and for type III secretion system 2 (TTSS2). The culturability of clinical strain Vp5 of V. parahaemolyticus in artificial seawater at 4 degr...

Draft Genome Sequence of Vibrio parahaemolyticus Strain M1-1, Which Causes Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease in Shrimp in Vietnam

We report here the genome sequence of Vibrio parahaemolyticus strain M1-1, which causes a mild form of shrimp acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND). Compared to other virulent strains, the M1-1 genome appeared to express several additional genes, while some genes were missing. These instabilities may be related to the reduced virulence of M1-1.

Isolation, identification and molecular characterization of Vibrio parahaemolyticus from fish samples in Kolkata.

UNLABELLED Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a marine bacterium which is also responsible for acute diarrhoeal illness in human beings. Eating raw seafish or contaminated seafood is responsible for acute gastroenteritis. The aim of this study was to investigate the isolation, identification and molecular characterization of Vibrio parahaemolyticus from the fish samples in Kolkata, India. MATERIALS A...
